Commission on Science and Technology for Development is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council. The Commission provides the General Assembly and ECOSOC with high-level advice on relevant science and technology issues.

Artificial intelligence (AI), sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and other animals. From SIRI to self-driving cars, artificial intelligence (AI) is progressing rapidly. While science fiction often portrays AI as robots with human-like characteristics, AI can encompass anything from Google’s search algorithms to IBM’s Watson to autonomous weapons. Most researchers agree that a super intelligent AI is unlikely to exhibit human emotions like love or hate and that there is no reason to expect AI to become intentionally benevolent or malevolent. But still, we need to remember that AI has the potential to become more intelligent than any human, we have no surefire way of predicting how it will behave.
